Who is Craig Edmonds?

I was born in Scarborough in the UK in 1971 and have lived in many different places such as Australia (12 years), Greece (4 years) , Miami and The Caribbean (2 years), Poland (1 year), UK (10 years) and the rest of the time in Spain.

I am settled down now permanently in Marbella in Spain with my lovely wife (since 2000) and beautiful daughter who arrived in October 2005.

So what do I do now?
Although I have dabbled in many interesting things, my main job right now (the one that pays the bills) is running 123 Marbella Web Design which is a small web design and internet consultancy I founded after moving to Spain in 2000.

We have just over 700 clients who we do domain registration, hosting, web design and consulting for. 123 Marbella has TWO employees. Me and Justin Parks.

To maintain this level of business it does mean I have to be a 6 day a week guy, sometimes 7 days if the going is tough and we have a lot on. I wake in the morning around 8am and work through to about 10pm. Yep, being self employed is not all flash cars and fancy dinners!

Its an interesting job and I have to be very hands on with having to deal with web servers, internet security, programming, technical support…well you get the idea, I am essentially the oily rag.

Because we run a solid hosting set up though, we rarely have technical problems.

So what do I know?
So, in regards to the internet, what do I know? Hmmmm. Good Question.

Well, whilst most people opt to specialise in one or two subjects, I basically specialise and take a deep interest in a whole ream of them!

What Programming Languages can I code?
I am capabale of programming in the following languages.

Classic ASP, PHP, HTML, CSS, XML, XSL, Flash, Javascript. I have been meaning to make the tranition over to .net but not had the time. I am currently starting to get interested in developing mobile applications for nokia phones using J2ME.

What tools do I use to code?
For web design and actual hand coding I chop and change between Dreamweaver CS, MS Visual Studio and Notepad.

For graphic design I use Macromedia Fireworks which is still a great web graphics tool. I never really touched Photoshop or Illustrator because those are more high end professional graphic design tools. Stick with what you know!

Any other programmes?
I will usually use Microsoft Visio to design my layouts and schemas. Its a really great tool for making diagrams for any documentation I need to produce.

What server side software can I confidently manage?
I can manage the following servers related hardware and software, no problems.
